Kanwal Syan is the Managing Director of Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Limited. He has over 35 years experience in Commercial Management of large projects. He was involved in the restructuring of the group companies in the East Africa region for Brown and Root following the buy out of Howard Humphreys UK Limited by Brown and Root in 1986.
He has been in-charge of the business development and commercial management of the Practice in East Africa from 1980 to 2000 and as Managing Director of the Kenya and Tanzania offices with effect from 2000. He has been involved in strategy planning, business development and commercial management of the firm.
Jonathan Mbui is currently Director of Operations within Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Ltd with overall technical and commercial responsibility for engineering and project management services provided by the company. Jonathan has over 27 years of professional experience in engineering design, design and project management, procurement and administration of construction contracts, and construction supervision of civil engineering projects. He is a registered consulting engineer with the Engineering Board of Kenya, a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers, Institution of Engineers of Kenya, and the engineering chapter of the Architectural Association of Kenya. He is also a Chartered Engineer (UK), a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch). He is passionate about training of young engineers and has been instrumental in mentoring several of them to professional registration status. Jonathan has a First Class Honours degree in civil engineering from the University of Nairobi, and a Masters degree (with distinction) in Construction Management from the University of Leeds (UK). Jonathan has worked with and managed multi-disciplinary project teams in civil and building engineering. He has working knowledge of engineering design and BIM software and other software commonly used in a design office. He has been engaged in various capacities within the East African Region on projects in hydropower; geothermal & thermal power plants; water supply & sewerage; roads & bridges; industrial, commercial and residential buildings, and high rise buildings with particular interest in concrete, steel and timber structures. He has carried out specialist structural investigations of completed buildings.
Mr Mandere is a Registered Quantity Surveyor with over 22 years professional experience covering Building and Civil Engineering projects in East Africa. He has vast experience in Project Management and Quantity Surveying for civil engineering, buildings and industrial projects. He has participated in procurement processes and Contracts Administration for many projects including those listed below. He has also carried out Feasibility Studies, Development Appraisals, Cost Engineering, Cost Planning and Control, Claims Management and Disputes Resolution. These attributes equip him to handle large multi-disciplinary projects of any nature.
Peter Wachira has over 28 years working experience as a Civil/structural design and supervision engineer in major projects including Highways and highways Drainage structures, Building Structures, water structures among others over several countries in Africa including Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania and South Sudan. He has also been involved in various design reviews, feasibility studies, technical audits and tender documentation on several projects. At design stage, he has been involved in preliminary and detail design for projects with diverse aspects of engineering. He has particularly been involved in design reviews, condition surveys, hydrological studies of river crossings, and construction supervision on several roads and infrastructural projects in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and South Sudan.
Deogratius Mugishagwe – Resident Director, Howard Humphreys(Tz)Limited
Deogratius is the Resident Director of Howard Humphreys Tanzania Limited. He is responsible for the Commercial and Technical performance of the Company in Tanzania. He has 26 years professional experience in project management, design, supervision, contract procurement and administration for building and infrastructure projects. Deogratius is a trained Civil and structural Engineer with expertise in Building structures, Bridges, Marine Structures, Highways, Water and Dam infrastructure and geotechnical analysis. He is conversant with procurement procedures under FIDIC, PPRA, EU, World Bank, BADEA and other funding organizations. He is proficient in the use of various engineering design and analysis software’s as well as architectural software. Deogratius a registered consulting engineer with the Engineering Registration Board of Tanzania, a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers (ACET), Institution of Engineers of Tanzania, and American Society of Civil Engineers. He is also a Member of the Tanzanian Institute of Arbitrators. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with honours degree from the University of Dar es salaam, and a Masters degree in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of the West Indies – Trinidad.
